Islay Blogging Roundup #327

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Now then, let's see if I can still do this. It's over three months since the last Islay blogging roundup, so I might be a bit rusty on the blogging roundup front. But after not blogging here for two days and more importantly reanimating my personal weblog Ministry of Propaganda yesterday I thought I should finally give it a go again. Here we go:

Let's start with a very happy event: I've been following Kate's Islay visits for some time now (she's a regular visitor), recently she got married to her long time partner on Islay. Read about it in Our wedding at Finlaggan but also read a handmade wedding.

Lousie blogs her video A day on Islay. Alex Fenton shares A trip to Islay – finding the next Whisky bar with his friends. Demurely looks back at their first ever ferry crossing to Islay. On Awesome Austerity some good tips for Islay's neighbour Colonsay hotspots this summer. Anne shares A Sacred Place about her Islay visit and the Little Fairytale Princess has “Rain is whisky waiting to be made” – the Islay part.

The German sailing yacht Alba sailed Belfast – Islay (Whisky – Tour) and left via Mull Of Kintyre – The Epic Tour. Also from Germany Peter has his Reisebericht: Feis Ile 2015 – das Whisky Festival auf Islay. After emigrating to Bulgaria Bradato wrote about the Islay Whisky Festival and Islay Whisky Festival Part 2. An Italian visitor writes L’Isola del Whisky…(prima parte) and L'Isola del Whisky... (seconda parte). Camilla and her family from Sweden travelled around Scotland and England including Skottland del 2: Resa från Arran till Islay and Skottland del 3: Islay och whiskydestillerierna.

A bit of Islay whisky: Marc writes Whisky while you travel: Bruichladdich Distillery Tour and Warehouse Tasting, Port Charlotte Valinch 02 Gorag Review and Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2008 Review. If you want to learn about whisky and whisky making you might still be able to get a place in Rachel's Whisky Course Islay. On the Bruichladdich News blog we find news of the #LADDIEMP2 - 3rd September, A Cold Wet Summerand can view Jim Mcewan In Pictures.

Nina documents her (at least, may be more) second Islay visit in from Glasgow to Islay, gray, with a splash of color, last Islay day and from island to city. Russell writes about a cycling visit to Islay in To Islay and Route Maps to Islay and Portanhaven and pictures from the distilleries ride.

On the Our Learning Blog of Port Ellen Primary we can read about the Sports Championships and Sports Day, some Problem solving with the High School and the P7 Leavers Assembly. The IECBS has two news updates with Handover and First Month and Bowmore Primary Visit. From the Dower House we can read Spot the rabbit!, A Very Out Of Date Photo Update and Nick sails into retirement on Mull.

Ron writes about Home Sweet Home on Islay, has an Update on Gartbreck Distillery May 2015 and reports from the Islay Festival 2015 Bruichladdich Open day.

Of course there was lots of birdwatching and wildlife: Too much to pick out individual posts, so just head over to the Islay Birds blog. Also on the RSPB Islay blog we find Showing off at the Islay show!, Two Swifts on our Tuesday walk!, Family Fun Day at a sunny Loch Gruinart, Seconds out, Damsels and dragons and Summer time…. And the INHT shares Minor Shoulder-knot, It's an Ard life...., Choughed with yesterday's rAmble! and A Seashore Safari Week. Gordon Yates writes about Hen Harrier Magic.

I think I should close with the pictures as usual: James Collett shares Islay, Jura, Colonsay And Mull, Face In The Paps Of Jura and a Vivid Sunset At Lossit Bay, Islay. Mark Unsworth's images of the week included cask filling at Bruichladdich, Loch Skerrols, stills and pagodas at Ardbeg and reeds at Finlaggan. And of course there are plenty of pictures on my own Islay Pictures photoblog, just take a look.

I'll leave it at that for now, I think this should give you plenty to read. I haven't decided yet when I'll write the next roundup, if I feel like it then next Sunday, otherwise probably in 2-3 weeks.

Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
