Mussel Soup with an Islay Taste
My Swedish is almost as limited as my knowledge of mussels and other shellfish. Hence I don't know if a Swedish mussel is really the same as an English mussel, but from reading Swedish crime fiction I vaguely remember mussels being a Swedish speciality. Funky Village writes about Musselsoppa med Islay-smak:
Men jag vill dock framhålla mitt val som den kulinariska vinnaren! En enkel musselsoppa med lök och bacon, smaksatt med härligt rökig single malt.
Assuming I read this correctly mussel soup with a wonderful smoky single malt (in other words an Islay single malt whisky) is a culinary winner. I guess I should try it some time.
