Bridge to Link Islay and Jura!

Very exciting news for Islay and Jura today: It is expected that Argyll and Bute Council will make an important announcement later today. In an effort to improve the traffic links between Islay and Jura a £15 million bridge will be built across the Sound of Islay, linking the two neighbouring islands. An artist's impression of how the bridge could look:

Details are yet to be confirmed, but it is expected that the bridge will span the Sound of Islay from just north of Caol Ila to just north of Feolin Ferry. The bridge will significantly improve access to the Isle of Jura and provide a reliable link between Islay and Jura at any weather conditions.

Further details about the bridge and further plans to improve the transport infrastructure for Islay and Jura are sketchy at this point, it is expected that these will materialise as the day progresses.
