Islay Successes at ForArgyll Awards
It took a while until the video was up, but finally the first results of the ForArgyll.com Awards 2008 are available. The results for Islay are impressive I'd say, you can either watch the whole video or cheat and read the Islay winners below the video:

So what about the Islay winners? There were three in six categories:
- Ron sweeped up three awards, winning the ‘Best Blog’, ‘Best Community Website’ and ‘Best Tourism Website’ with his Islay Weblog and Islay Info websites. He's understandably very pleased.
- Not far behind was Paul and Joan's An Taigh Osda, winning both the ‘Best Accommodation’ and ‘Best Restaurant’ categories. Ian and Margaret's Kilchoman Cottages gave them some tough competition for the ‘Best Accommodation’ though, so a double win for Islay there.
- Last but not least Brian's Ride of the Falling Rain won the ‘Best Event’ category.
I don't know yet how this blog did in the categories it was nominated in (apart from that it didn't win), but I'd like to thank those who nominated it and voted for it. My main aim was to push the Islay contenders as far as possible, looking at the results this seems to have been at least partly successful. With a bit more preparation I hope Islay can do even better next year...
PS: Did I miss it or was the ‘Best Visitor Attraction’ winner not mentioned?
