Islay Quick Links Mid-May Edition

Having just finished my first entry (for some obscure reason titled Here comes the summer…) in the Non-political roundup category of the Scottish Roundup I'm in the mood for more links. Islay links this time though (even though I did manage to smuggle two Islay links into the roundup). Here are a few I came across the last few days I thought worth sharing:

The Ardbeg Project is a new website about, no surprise there, Ardbeg distillery and its whiskies. It is run by ‘lohssanami’, his helpers include some of the usual suspects like Gordon or Geert.

Some interesting news with an Islay influence from the other side of the Northern Channel: Irish Scottish Gaelic helps children in Bangladesh. The Gaelic class of Bowmore Primary School (hope I got that right? Please correct me if I'm wrong) worked together with Ballycastle's Gaelic medium School to raise money for street children in Bangladesh.

Islay prepares for international fishing contest makes the headlines at STV News. The event is in June, probably much more about it closer to the event.

If you ever wanted to read about the whisky making process on Islay in Czech, you can do so at Ze života whisky v obrazech – díl I. and Ze života whisky v obrazech – díl II..

Last but not least Tim Taylor recalls visits to his grandmother on Islay when he was a teenager. Nice memories.
