My Laphroaig Triple Wood Has Arrived

Today something very nice arrived with the post from Islay. If you read the Mid November Islay Whisky News last Tuesday you might have noticed that Laphroaig released 700 bottles of the Triple Wood in their online shop (usually it's only available in duty free). I immediately placed my order on Tuesday morning.
Placing the order quickly was a good decision, two days later the 700 bottles were all sold. If you didn't get one and would like one, I understand there should still be some available in the duty free shops.

On Friday I received an e-mail from Laphroaig that my bottle had been shipped from the distillery on Islay. By Saturday it had arrived in the Glasgow sorting office, this morning it found its way to Aldermaston Wharf. This evening I unpacked it to take the picture above.
I haven't opened it yet, at the moment I'm planning to either wait for ‘#whiskywednesday on Twitter’ or even the weekend. Yes, I can wait. Waited long enough already, so a few more days won't hurt. Oh, don't expect any tasting notes from me. I'm not good in that and prefer leaving that to the experts…
Still, thanks to John Campbell and his team on Islay for making this available and sending it out so quickly!
