A Walk around Kilmeny Guest House, Islay

Islay on Video written in stencil

Most tourist businesses on Islay and in particular the accommodation providers nowadays have a web presence of some kind. Usually a website with information about the accommodation and few pictures of the rooms and may be the area or Islay in general. Margaret Rozga of Kilmeny Guest House near Ballygrant has just added a new means of showing her rooms to interested guests, a video:

From the top of my head I can't really think of any other hotels, guest houses or B&Bs on Islay with a good video (there are some from a hotel booking website, but I think they are rather useless in promoting the hotels. They are more slide shows promoting the booking website). I think this is a great idea, it provides more ‘information’ than just pictures.

Now I don't know how to best do that, but I think a short introduction of the host would be a great addition. To me the host is a very important part of the experience, it can make all the difference if I book in the first place as well as whether I return for another stay.

For now fingers crossed that the video will help Margaret to get inquiries and further bookings. I haven't stayed at Kilmeny yet, but have heard good things about it.

What do you think, are videos a good idea and would they encourage you to stay in a particular place?
