Heads up: Islay Book Festival 2010

Islay Events written in stencil

Bookworms, time to mark your calendars: While the date has already been listed in the Islay countdowns in the sidebar for a while it has now been confirmed, this years Islay Book Festival will take place on the first weekend of September, i.e. 04-05/Sep/2010. Who are the speakers this year?

After last years guests like George Robertson and the ‘femmes fatales’ Lin Anderson, Alex Gray and Alanna Knight this year seems to focus more on story telling and family reading. Many people will have heard of Julia Donaldson, or more likely her creation, The Gruffalo. She will speak to both adults and children.

Most people will also know The Broons & Oor Wullie, David Donaldson will speak his involvement with writing many The Broons titles. For those preferring ghost stories there's Catherine MacPhail, who will speak about ghost stories and lead a ghostly workshop…

I hear there's also excellent home baking and other food, another reason to visit I should think!
