Friday Islay Picture #171 - Border Collie in Machir Bay
Here we go again, after three weeks the Friday Islay picture is back. Last Friday I was on Islay, the week before I was travelling to Islay. The picture I'm going to post today is in a way a last minute picture, taken at the very last opportunity. At the same time I hope it will make someone happy I was able to make happy before. Before I get to some background here's today's picture of a Border Collie on the beach in Machir Bay:
Now to the background to this picture: First of all let me take you back to July, to the Friday Islay Picture #155 - Border Collie on Beach. Since then I've posted a few more pictures of Border Collies on the Islay pictures photoblog, meaning my stock of good Border Collie pictures was running dangerously low. With the weather last week not being too helpful I didn't spend as much time on the beach as I had hoped, in particular not with a camera…
Then my last morning on Islay had arrived and I still hadn't taken a single picture of any Border Collie on a beach. For a change the weather looked quite decent and on a hunch I took my camera with me for my morning run. On the return leg I spotted a beach walker approaching with what looked like two dogs. Could I finally be in luck? Yes, I could. They turned out to be Border Collies. They were both quite playful and ran towards me several times, one even wanting me to throw out its ball for it to retrieve. I managed to snap a few pictures of them, some of them I'm quite happy with.
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to talk with the owner, so if anyone recognises the dog please pass on my thanks for showing up just at the right time! Your dogs are brilliant!
With that I wish you all a great weekend, as usual I will post a larger version of the picture on the Islay Pictures photoblog on Saturday morning.
