Friday Islay Picture #176 - Wildlife Watching at the Sound of Islay
Mixed feelings with today's Friday Islay picture. Today isn't just any Friday for me. Today would have been my late mother's 70th birthday, if the devil cancer hadn't killed her 2.5 years ago. I prefer to think of her with all the great memories of experiences we had together, like the Islay walking week in 2004. This picture was taken during our first walk of the week, with DJ along the Sound of Islay, my mother is on the right:
I can't remember what DJ had spotted here and told us to look for, but I think it probably was a bird, possibly an Eagle. We also spotted an adder during the walk, I think not far from where this picture was taken. Certainly a great experience for my mother.
As usual I will post a larger version of the picture on the Islay Pictures photoblog on Saturday morning, but before that I'd like to repeat my twice annual appeal for donations to various cancer (research) charities. Here are a few cancer charities which could need your help:
- Cancer Research UK
- Deutsche Krebshilfe
- Österreichische Krebshilfe
- Krebsliga Schweiz - Gemeinsam gegen Krebs
- Canadian Cancer Society - Société canadienne du cancer
- KWF Kankerbestrijding (Netherlands)
- Cancer Research Institute (USA)
- American Cancer Society
- Australian Cancer Research Foundation
- Cancerfonden - Riksföreningen mot cancer (Swedish Cancer Society)
- Kreftforeningen (Norwegian Cancer Society)
- Syöpäjärjestöt (Finnish Cancer Organisations)
My birthday present for my mother will be on its way shortly.
