Lagavulin Distillery Managers Video

Islay on Video written in stencil

Let me be blunt, I think so far Diageo's online efforts for their two Islay distilleries, Lagavulin and Caol Ila, have been very disappointing. The websites are mostly horrid, bland corporate speak. No significant social media efforts I'm aware of (I know there are Facebook pages, but there's hardly anything from the distilleries on them). A real shame for the great people working at the distilleries. Could this be about to change?

Yesterday I came across a great video, I think one of the best distillery videos I've seen for a while. Ron was similarly impressed. Here it is:

YouTube: Lagavulin Managers

Now there's people speaking. People making whisky, people coming home, people telling stories. And I think that's what it's all about. That's something I can relate to. I doubt I'm the only one there.

I hope this is a sign of more things to come. A nice dedicated website at and/or a nice site for Caol Ila (unfortunately just goes to some whisky shop/auction site). More nice videos from Islay, with real people and real stories. Real distillery news directly from Islay, from the people working at the distilleries. I know they have stories to tell.

Until then, enjoy the video, I think you'll like it.
