New Islay panorama, view from Mala Bholsa

Islay Pictures in stencil

While not as productive as last Saturday it was a fairly good day. I've completed my questionnaire for the 2011 Census (sorry, no overnight visits on Sunday accepted now), got a lot of laundry done (oh, my exciting life…) and most importantly completed yet another Islay panorama. This time we visit the remote north of Islay:

I've called this the View from Mala Bholsa Panorama, Isle of Islay. 180° Quicktime VR Panorama, even though it's probably more than 180°, at a guess around 270°. As the title indicates it's a view from Mala Bholsa, a relatively small hill with 127m. Still, I think the views from it are some of the best you can get on Islay, especially on a day like the one we had in June 2010. My sister and me had walked in from Killinallan Gate, over the beach and then along the coast. While my sister rested at the foot of the hill (she couldn't climb it due to a back problem) I went up for the views and to take pictures.

I hope you enjoy the panorama and it at least gives you an idea of the fantastic views. If you're ever in the area (it's a few hours walk from Killinallan Gate) I highly recommend making the extra effort and climbing the 100m or so from the foot of the hill. Especially on a clear day the views to Colonsay, Oronsay and the Isle of Mull are fantastic, not to forget the views over the north coast of Islay.

With that I'm off to bed, if you're in the UK (and many other countries in Europe) don't forget the clocks change tonight…
