Friday Islay Picture #192 - Collapsed Arch Near Sanaigmore

Friday Islay Picture in stencil

Right, how does this work again? Ah, I take an Islay picture, post it and write a bit about it. With almost three weeks since the Friday Islay Picture #191 I had to remind myself how this works. And which number this one is. Let me take you to an interesting place near Sanaigmore, may be a mile or so east of Sanaigmore Bay:

Picture of a collapsed natural above a sandy ground

I believe this is a collapsed natural arch (or two to be precise, this picture is taken from under the second one). The rocks arch up nicely, only the middle bit is missing and looks rather ragged, as if there used to be a link between the two sides once. The only strange thing is that there is nothing on the ground, just incredibly smooth sand, smoothed by the tides moving in and out. But then may be that is the explanation?

As usual I will post a larger version (larger as in more than twice as big) on the Islay Pictures photoblog on Saturday morning. Have a great weekend!
