Islay Blogging Roundup #171

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Sunday evening already? Where did the weekend go? Well, I guess I better get on with it and pull together this week's Islay blogging roundup, what the blogs have been writing about Islay this week. Quite a variety of posts again, so let me start with an opportunity to win a very nice Islay picture:

Normally I would mention the pictures last, but this week I'll start with one of them. James Deane is back to blogging and his latest entry is titled Celebrating the Festival of the Sea, and your chance to win a print! Three ways to enter, so even if you're not on Twitter or Facebook you'll have a chance.

The SY Oblivion is on a journey around Britain, this week they passed the area as documented in the entries Jura, Islay and Gigha. On a similar journey is the SY Atazoa, some great writeup and pictures from her journey in ATAZOA – Leg 6b – Campbeltown to Port Ellen (Islay), Tuesday 28th June 2011`, PORT ELLEN (ISLAY) - Wednesday 29th June 2011 and ATAZOA – Leg 6c – Port Ellen to Loch Tarbert, Jura – Thursday 30th June 2011. Emma and Steve didn't come by sailing yacht on their travels described in Peat in the Fire, Midges in the Sky: The Isle of Islay. Also more road based were Mike, Susan and friends who went on The Whisky Trail including a visit to Islay.

Speaking of whisky, the Bruichladdich Blog writes about (Even More) Octomore. To which the Danish Whisky Blog replies with Peat mania. A blog called SmokySweet tastes the Bruichladdich Bourbon Cask 16yo.

In other news Ron posts an Update on Islay Ferry MV Finlaggan from CMAL and the Islay Triathlon blog writes about the Results for 2011. I'm not entirely sure where it is from and what it is about, but this Scandinavian fashion (?) blog writes about the Islay Woollen Mills. The pupils from Islay currently on Madagascar continue their reports on madislay's posterous, among other updates you want to listen to 28th children singing.

Birdwatching and wildlife: Watch where you step says Wild and Magic Islay & Tern's Eggs. The Islay Birds blog has another great picture of a Corncrake as well as a Snipe. I also like this great picture of Choughs at Ardnave. John Islay Birder Armitage notes it's Half way through the year!! 1st July,2011. The Islay Natural History Trust blog has Froglets at the Centre and Malcolm shares some good news about at least some Recovery from the storm. There were some Bottle nosed dolphins off Port Charlotte and some nice Photos from Mark and Sally Johnson.

And finally back to the pictures, of which there were surprisingly few this week: Ron posts some Sunny Islay Pictures, I've already mentioned James Deane and from my own Islay Pictures photoblog I think I'll go for Monochrome Sunshine, Sunset at Uiskentuie and Dramatic Clouds over Saligo Bay, Isle of Islay.

I think that's it for this week. As usual the reference to the Scottish Roundup for the bigger picture, this week with Spies, The Devil’s Staircase and Lemony Mackerel Pâté. Good night!
