Islay Blogging Roundup #179

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Well over half way through the bank holiday weekend in England, true to form the weather in West Berkshire has been rather changeable. So I've spent some time at home, editing videos, yesterday the Triumph Stag Classic Cars in Aldermaston Wharf, today I made good progress on my latest Islay video project. It's not finished yet, I hope to get there tomorrow. Until then I better get to what the blogs have been writing about Islay and Jura this week:

Let me start with a bit of whisky: It Literally Exploded writes Whisky2.0 (about the PC7) and the Whisky Critic writes about a Bruichladdich Distillery Visit. Peatreek from London has a Battle of the Sexes: Ardbeg Uigeadail. Eye for Spirits from Germany picks up on the Laphroaig PX: Der Neue von Beam Global. WhiskyNotes from Belgium tries the Kilchoman Inaugural 100% Islay. The Bruichladdich Blog has an X-Rated story to tell.

Rachel MacNeill had a busy week: First she filmed her first video of An International Peat Cutting Team, then she took Rachel (no, not herself, another one) on a Bespoke Whistle Stop Whisky Tour. Ron also picks up on the Wild and Magic Islay Video.

The reluctant blogger Charlotte was on a Sojourn in Scotland - Part One. Rohan was much more adventurous with her Corryvreckan Swim Challenge: Up the glen, by the loch and over the sea to Islay, To the Paps, One more sleep and in particular Whose idea was this? are some of the key entries.

Birdwatching and wildlife: The Islay Birds blog reports from a very successful Islay presence on the bird fair before returning to Islay with Hen Harriers and Golden Eagles. There were also 790 Greylags this week. Not exactly birding, but John Islay Birder Armitage tells us about his new car in Enter the Green Warrior, so hopefully we'll hear more from him again. He also writes about his experiences at the British Birdwatching Fair. The Islay Natural History Trust blog has Moths from the Lawson family and a Red Admiral. Alistair Hutchison contributed a Fungal Foray.

To finish as usual the pictures: Scotland In The Gloaming picks up a Sunset, Loch Gorm, Islay. On his Islaystudios's Blog Mark's Image of the week is a nice view of a barley field. On his Islay Photography Gallery we find The Boathouse and the M.V. Finlaggan. Brian has a bunch of pictures of Islay`s Kildalton Cross - One of the finest Celtic Crosses in Scotland. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I think I'll go for Bright Sun over Islay and Jura, The American Monument on the cliffs of The Oa and of course the Sunny Afternoon at Lossit Bay, Isle of Islay.

I think that's about it for this week, I hope you've found something of interest. As usual the link to the Scottish Roundup for the bigger picture, this week with Revolution in the air. Good night!
