Three Islay and Jura Whisky Links
It's been a while since I had one of these I think, so I thought I post a few Islay and Jura whisky travel links from the general press out there. Nothing too new really but I thought some of you might find them interesting one way or another. Here we go:
TNT Magazine (which seems to be a magazine for South Africans, New Zealanders and Australians living in that London town) has an article Islay: Scotland's secret whisky trail by Robin McKelvie. I'm not sure what ‘secret’ has to do with remoteness (as in, ‘it takes a bit of effort to get there’), but may be that's just me.
GQ to my knowledge is a lad's mag, so I was slightly surprised there was no mention of KLF and the 1 million Pound, but GQ.com goes to: Jura. In any case, assuming the price quoted (£2,000 per person for two nights) is correct it is well out of my league anyway.
I've mentioned sea-kayaking a couple of times over the last few days, the Norwegian Swedish (thanks to Jonas for the correction) Tidningen Paddling magazine has a report about sea kayaking and whisky on Islay: Islay – Whiskyturen. As far as I can tell they've paddled around Islay for six days, visiting beaches and distilleries including Laphroaig, Ardbeg and Caol Ila.
I hope you found something interesting here, and even if not it at least it inspired you to pour yourself a wee dram of the good Islay single malt whisky…
