More Peat Cutting on Islay, now with Rachel

Islay on Video written in stencil

Isn't it funny how sometimes one thing leads to another? Just yesterday I blogged the video of Kevin cutting peat on Islay and also mentioned Rachel MacNeill's Peat Cutting, Drying & Stacking Workshop. Guess what I found today? Yes, a video of exactly that workshop, uploaded today by a participant in it:

YouTube: Peat Cutting on the Isle of Islay

Unfortunately some slight wind noise (difficult to avoid on Islay…), but you can still understand most of Rachel's explanations very well. I believe the creator of the video is one of the international journalists who visited Islay and Jura recently, Ciki of Cumi & Ciki to be precise. I assume a blog entry about the peat cutting is still to come, you can already read about Picture Perfect Scotland- Jura Music Festival and Meeting Dougie MacLean at the Jura Music Festival.

I hope you'll enjoy the second peat cutting on Islay video within two days, I promise there won't be any peat cutting on this blog tomorrow.
