Islay the Fashion Brand?

Yes, you read that right, it seems Islay is now a fashion brand. And no, there seems to be not a single drop of Islay single malt whisky, not a single bite of shortbread and not a single piece of tartan involved. So what is this Islay fashion brand all about?

Over the last few weeks I've seen various mentions of a fashion brand named ‘Islay’ popping up in some of my searches. Here are a few examples:

After a while I decided to have a look what this was all about. It turned out to be a brand created by a model called Jody Carlson-Astrom. And is there actually a link to Islay or did she just like the sound of it? Turns out there is indeed a link, well, at least a loose one:

The name Islay is feminine and one of the designer's favorite names for a woman. Islay is also a beautiful small Scottish Island and as such a celebration of Jody's half Scottish roots!

I'll let my fashion conscious readers decide if the designs are any good. But who knows, may be one day Islay will be mentioned in the same league as Prada, Christian Dior, Versace, Burberry, Chanel or Gucci?
