Islay Blogging Roundup #204

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Sunday evening already? Where did the weekend go again? For some reason didn't get a lot done this weekend. Oh well, let's hope that next week and in particular next weekend will be better. Swiftly moving on to this week's Islay blogging roundup, let's see what the blogs had to say about Islay and Jura this week, starting with the whisky:

Miss Whisky set out to portrait Rachel MacNeill and does this very nicely in The Woman Celebrating Islay’s Magic. Weekend Whisky is taking A Short Flight to Islay to taste some while Tales Of The Still writes about Kilchoman Machir Bay Single Malt Scotch A True Scottish Farmhouse Style Creation. Mark Charan Newton is tasting the Port Charlotte An Turas Mor and likes it quite a lot, similar All Things Whisky in their Ardbeg Uigeadail Review.

A British Island Adventure includes Jura in their Top 10 best British islands: No 5 - Jura. The W Club (W stands for Whisky) announce We have our first major winner!!, where Simon wins a trip to Islay to take pictures and taste whisky. The Southgate Amateur Radio News reports of Jura, Islay and Colonsay operations.

The Our Learning Blog of Port Ellen Primary has a lot of information about the World Maths Day in P1/2. Becky writes about a walk to Bolsa via Bunnahabhain and Beinn Thrasda, Islay on the Geograph Blog.

The birdwatching and wildlife, starting with the Islay Birds blog: Here we find a heads up for the Scottish Bird Fair in May which will see an Islay presence. Bob sent in a great picture of a Short Eared Owl taken from his car and yesterday spring almost returned with various bird sightings. The Islay Natural History Trust blog brings us two walks from Becky, The Sgurr - a day stolen from spring and Ardnave to Sanaigmore. There's also a Common Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) and A smelly sign of spring.

As usual to finish the pictures: Scott Jessiman visited Islay recently and shows some of his pictures in Islay 2012. Rene from Germany normally blogs about Islay whiskies, but from a recent visits he also brought back some pictures shown in Loch Gorm – Islay Winter Reise 2012 Teil 1. The Hazel Tree is Seeing the light, meaning lighthouses including some from Islay. Mark Unsworth shows us some Cask Filling and a Daffodil on his photography gallery. Ron introduces Islay Photographer Niall Colthart on his blog. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've decided to go for On The Way to Proaig, American Monument on the Cliffs of The Oa and the McArthur's Head Lighthouse at the Sound of Islay Panorama.

That's all I have for this week, I hope I haven't missed anything significant. For some reason there is no post for this week on the Scottish Roundup yet as of writing this, hopefully it will be there soon. Good night and have a good week!
