Islay Blogging Roundup #243

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Apologies if you were waiting for another Islay panorama or at least a blog entry yesterday. I was busy with another quadcopter flight and editing the video, DJI Phantom Sunset Flight over Aldermaston Wharf. I so hope I can fly it on Islay later this year! But until then it's back to the regular Sunday feature, blog entries mentioning Islay, Jura and Colonsay I spotted over the last week:

John Gruber of Daring Fireball (normally known for his Apple blogging) picks up on the Bruichladdich story in the New Yorker, he also tried and liked the whisky. Steffen from Denmark tastes two independent bottlings from the Isle of Jura. A blogger from Germany writes about Der 18-jährige Caol Ila, if you prefer to listen you can listen (in German) to a podcast from an Islay visit in Folge XXVI: Black Fungus (cr026). Also from Germany Philip reports on the Machir Bay 2013: Kilchoman bastelt weiter an Stamm-Portfolio. Back to English Oswald writes about A tot of gin and a w’hee dram to b’hoot. The whisky novice at Whisky Spot just asks Ardbog?. The ardblog also covers Ardbog für den Ardbeg Day 2013. Whisky and Writing (think I mentioned that blog before?) has a look at the Marks and Spencer Islay Single Malt.

TrottyWorld went on an Escape to Islay while Houses with History writes about Islay House, Scotland.

From Colonsay news reach us that Kapitein is a happy little bunny…

The Our Learning Blog of Port Ellen Primary covers a variety of topics this week: In sport we have Rugby Training and SHINTY TOURNAMENT!!!. In science they learned about New Wave Power Machine Device designs and Wind Power. Finally they also went Scottish Country Dancing.

Birdwatching and wildlife: Gordon Yates was Well Choughed during his latest visit and there were also Raptors Galore. Of course there are many more bird sightings on the Islay Birds blog including a report from the bird nerds meeting, more sightings by Gordon and Pauline Yates and Peregrines vs Lapwings.

Let me start the pictures with a painting again: Many of you will remember Colin Woolf's progress, now it's done, ‘Storm over Loch Indaal’ – now finished. James Collett has a few pictures of Bruichladdich, Sunset’s Over West Coast of Islay and a Loch Skerrols Trip. On the INHT blog we find More photos from the Bolsa walk and pictures of the Sunderland hinterland. On Am Bothan {the bothy} we find some nice pictures in on the shore and a very moody view in into the abyss. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Walking on the Beach in Lossit Bay, Bright Morning in Port Charlotte and Laphroaig Distillery Warehouse No.1 Sign, Isle of Islay.

That's it for this week, as usual the reference to the Scottish Roundup, this week with Challenging assumptions. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
