Islay Blogging Roundup #250

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Twohundredandfifty. How did that happen? I started with it in September 2007 and Some Kind of Islay Blogging Roundup, inspired by the Britblog Roundup and the Scottish Roundup. The Britblog Roundup seems to have fizzled out in 2010 as far as I can tell, but the Scottish Roundup is still going strong. As is this Islay focused blogging roundup. On that note let's go straight to the Islay mentions in the blogs over the last two weeks:

To start with a few travelogues from Islay visits, first up is TSW Magazine, where so far we find Bicycles And Drams: Islay Day 1, Bicycles And Drams: Islay Day 2 and Bicycles And Drams: Islay Day 3. I've been promised there's more to come. Next up is Thomas Øhrbom from Norway writing on STOW. He also promised me more to come, so far we have Islay Tour 2013 – Part 0: Sammendrag, Islay Tour 2013 – part 1: Bowmore Distillery and Islay Tour 2013 – part 2: Kilchoman Distillery. Gordon had just started Spring 2013 Visit when I wrote the last roundup, since then he wrote Spring 2013 Visit – Part 2, Spring 2013 Visit – Part 3 and Spring 2013 Visit – Final Part.

The Scotchlife have been on the Bowmore Ultimate Outdoor Adventure Islay, Scotland while a French sailing yacht on the way to Iceland sailed Belfast – Ile de Islay. I'm not sure what the ultimate destination for the SY Traversay III is, they sailed Islay and onward recently. Jerry from Hamburg in Germany had some Reisefieber: Islay – die Whisky-Insel Schottlands.

Joe Abercrombie is planning a Whisky Deathmatch: Islay Blood Feud while Scotch Cinema spotted A Poorly Disguised Lagavulin in NCIS: Los Angeles. David at Levantine Musings muses What Makes A Great Scotch Whisky? and illustrates it with Bruichladdich. Bozzy is tasting the Ardbog…

With Feis Ile less than a week away expect some blogging about it now. The Master of Malt had We're Goin' To Islay! and Feis Ile - Islay Competition 1: Flag down the Master of Malt Mobile! so far, I suspect there's more to come. Martine Nouet on her new blog promises A week of fun at Islay Music and Whisky Festival.

His blog was launched a while ago and finally came to my attention, Asher from Islay writes A Kids Kayaking Blog. Most recently he wrote Meeting Harold Hastie and earlier mentioned What I Have Done. On The Dower House Restoration Project we find A Little Late…But an Easter Update. Ron announces an Updated Walks Pages on Islay Info and proclaims This is - Excuse Me - A Damn Fine Cup of Coffee. Two quite different updates on the IET blog, the Proposed Islay Energy Community Benefit Society and Time to start training! Triathlon 2013 – Saturday June 22nd. Justin Tyers says Fair exchange is no robbery…. Port Ellen Primary has been away (well, at least some of them) as reported in P6/7 Trip To Stirling. The next Timebank Stroll to Skerrols Loch has been announced. Posie writes A good few miles away on the clock… while on Am Bothan we can read about Islay Time and Delegation

The birdwatching and wildlife: On the Islay Birds blog we find a Redpoll, weather (rain) reports mixed with bird reports and a massive list of bird counts and sightings. On the INHT blog we find Green-veined White butterflies, A lichen tree and news of a Landslip!

And finally as usual the pictures: Mark Unsworth's Image Of The Week last week was of Saligo Bay, this week's he's been away and came back with a nice shot of the commando memorial. James Deane points out some of his pictures from Sgarbh Breac. Ron has evening light in Saligo Bay, a serene view of Saligo Bay and a peaty burn in Lossit Bay. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Saligo River in the Evening Light, Cloudy Sunset in Saligo Bay and Port Charlotte Lighthouse and the Paps of Jura, Isle of Islay.

I think I'll leave it at that for this 250th Islay blogging roundup. For the bigger picture of course head over to the Scottish Roundup, this week with Spying on you undercover, drinking coffee with your mother – am I getting closer? Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
