Some Islay links, whisky and other

Islay Links in stencil

Time for some good old fashioned blogging again, sharing a few links to pages with in some way or other Islay content. Some whisky distilleries, some art, some lifeboat action, some whisky people, some interesting photography and a bit of Islay's neighbour Jura:

Some readers might remember Keith Savage of Traveling Savage, he featured regularly in the Islay blogging roundup back in 2011 when he visited Islay. Keith has now republished one of his entries in the Scotsman under Exploring Islay's farm-based Kilchoman Distillery.

A bit of art from a collection of favourite paintings from 2013, Summer Sunset over the Atlantic, from Portnahaven. by Elemjay. Click on the picture to see it a bit larger.

The Islay part is only fairly small, but the pictures alone are worth a visit: In pictures: Stunning images show courage of lifeboat crews on the high seas.. and the families that support them. The Islay interest is Islay lifeboat crew member Richard Cameron pictured at Caol Ila distillery.

The Telegraph has a very nice video portrait of The Master: Bruichladdich's Jim McEwan. No video (that didn't really exist back then), but the Scotsman has Women who kept spirit of Scotch whisky alive, which of course includes Laphroaig's Bessie Williamson.

More art and photography and whisky in Gorgeous Single-Malt Whisky Photos Find Salvation at the Bottom of a Glass. Visitors to this year's Feis Ile will be able to see more.

And finally a visit to Islay's neighbour Jura: Jura: reinvigorated by adventure - The Ecologist.

That's all for this time, I hope you found one or two or three or more of the links of interest. More whenever I've got a good collection again.

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
