Islay Blogging Roundup #286

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

That's a quite nice weekend coming to end now. Yesterday I got a few things done, including creating an intro video to my YouTube channel (even though most of the regular readers probably don't need it). Today was a very nice sunny day in West Berkshire, so I went out to a local nature reserve for some pictures, followed by a Sunday roast sitting outside in the sun. Now it's time for a look back at the Islay (and Jura) mentions in the blogs this week:

A few Islay whiskies were tasted: Fredde had the Caol Ila 18, 43%, Michael the Ardbeg Corryvreckan Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. I think this might be a first for the roundup, a Latvian blog reviews the Viskiju Apskats #165 - Bunnahabhain 23 y.o. [Master of Malt/Vintage 1989] while (and that's not a first) from Hungary we find Ébred a farm – Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2014.

People visited Islay and Jura: The Ford Mixology Lab has A Photo Adventure: Bruichladdich Distillery. Scene in Focus visit continued with Evening, Still life, Deer, deer, Deer, oh deer, oh deer! and to close Inclined plain? James writes about Fog, Shells and Rain from his Islay and Jura visit.

Some local bloggers shared thoughts: Justin ponders My FaceBook failings…. The Dower House team shares news This week Gary came back!. The IECBS reports another New Total!

Some ferry updates from Ron: Islay to Receive Increase in Ferry Capacity and Islay Ferry 2 Vessel Timetable to Resume Saturday 8th March.

There was some birdwatching and wildlife: Mark Wilkinson spotted a Juvenile Thayer's Gull on Islay. On the Islay Birds blog we find sightings by the BurbageBirders, Wood Pigeons and Rock Doves and a Sparrowhawk on a bird feeder. The INHT has some excellent news in And the Natural History Trust is........ and follows with A Celebration of Fenceposts. John Armitage shares an Update on E-petition. Amy shows some drainage system work at Gruinart and writes about the Beached Bird Survey. Also on the RSPB blog impressions from being Out and about at The Oa today.

Some pictures were taken: James Collett went to Loch Iarnan for the Weekly Photo Challenge: Perspective. Amy shares pictures from Ardnave and Lossit Bay. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked the Wave splash in Lossit Bay, the Hillwalkers in the great wide open of the Oa and the Big sky over Port Ellen, Isle of Islay.

With that I'll close for today. More next week. Good night.

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
