Help Identify Laphroaig People with Bessie Williamson
Many Islay Single Malt Whisky connoisseurs will have heard of Bessie Williamson. Not only was she one of the few women running a distillery, she also ran Laphroaig extremely well. Recently the Scottish Brewing Archive found some previously unseen pictures, as the Herald reports:
Now previously unseen images of Bessie Williamson of the Laphroaig distillery, which cast new light on her reign at the famous liquor-makers of Islay, have been discovered by researchers at Glasgow University.
But now Ian Russell from Glasgow University needs some help:
There must be a number of people who can remember Bessie Williamson and the Laphroaig workforce from 60 to 70 years ago. I do hope that they will hear of our work and get in touch.
Unfortunately the report in The Herald doesn't mention how to contact Ian, my best guess is via the Contact Us page of the SBA. I'll try to find out more and if I'm successful update this entry.

And finally: The whisky I enjoyed while writing this entry? Laphroaig Quarter Cask
