Burning Money On Jura

When I read the e-mail I thought ‘why didn't you think of that?’ But that's the good thing about blogs and sharing information: On Monday I had blogged about Islay's and Jura's claim to rock fame, on Tuesday I received an e-mail from Steve Cranston (who runs LOCHIEL (IV) - All about this magnificent vessel). He had some further comments on The KLF burning a million quid on Jura. Most importantly he pointed out a video documentary which exists of at least parts of it.

Excerpts of it can be found on YouTube under KLF-The Documentary, the money burning episode starts at about 3:00 minutes into the video. Some call it art, I still don't really know what to think of it. Apparently Bill Drummond himself isn't entirely sure about the whole thing yet. For a first hand account you can also read Money To Burn- Library of Mu.

Anyway, this wasn't the first visit of The KLF to Jura: In The KLF - Waiting (Part Two) you can see them in and around Jura House Gardens. In The KLF - Waiting (Part One) they are on the beach below the house, looking over the Sound of Islay towards McArthur's Head. Part 3 and part 4 probably also include impressions from Jura, but as they are quite long and the music isn't really my style I didn't watch them. There are limits to what I do for this blog.

Oh, and yesterday I thought I found another claim to fame for Islay. Turns out it is just a spoof though: Scottish Widows lady told ‘Get over it’ Or is there really a Morag McGafferty from Port Ellen in Islay?
