Giant Ardbeg Islay Malt Bottles go on Sale

Picture of Ardbeg distillery from the seaside

While I'm slightly surprised that it's only reported on now as I saw the bottles during my visit to Islay in June I thought this is still worth a blog entry now: Ardbeg distillery is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its reopening with the Mór Ardbeg, a 4.5 litre bottle of Islay Single Malt. I thought it had been on sale already, but it seems it only went on general sale in the UK today, as the BBC reports: Huge bottles of whisky go on sale.

Unfortunately I didn't get a picture taken of me holding it, but the Mór Ardbeg bottles are huge. They are really gigantic. And heavy. While possible I think it might be a bit tricky to pour from it, but then considering the price quite a few will probably end up with collectors who will never open them anyway. As mentioned previously I think whisky is there to be drunk, but that's just my opinion.

Whoever the lucky buyers will be (there will only be 1,000 bottles, of which 250 will go on sale in the UK), I hope you'll enjoy a mór dram of it.
