British Ultra to take place on Islay and Jura

Via The Path Less Travelled..... I've just found an interesting event which will take place on Islay and Jura in late May 2008: The British Ultra. It is a multi stage ultra foot race, taking place over several days. The exact route won't be published yet, but after a first stage on Islay it will cross to Jura for several more stages.

Looking at the itinerary I suspect the Islay stage will either be along the south east coast past Proaig and McArthur's Head or through the Great Glen. Most realistic options for a cross country race from somewhere near Port Ellen to Port Askaig. The Jura section where the vast majority of the event will take place will go along the west coast. I guess it will initially follow the Sound of Islay before reaching Loch Tarbert. From there it will follow the really remote area on the west coast up to the Corryvreckan whirlpool.

One of the participants will be Tomo Thompson, hopefully we will be able to read more about the event on his blog as well. He is also using the event for some fundraising in the Help for Heroes Ultramarathon Challenge and is looking for further sponsors.
