Franz Ferdinand Drink Islay Whisky on Tour?

Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones is (was?) known to quite like Jack Daniels, it was part of the rock star image. Many others followed the example. Why I don't know, but that's a different question. Regular readers of this blog might remember that there's at least one band with better tastes: Franz Ferdinand. At least singer Alex Kapranos (not sure about the other members of the band) quite likes a good Islay single malt, in particular after visiting Islay in 2004.

I first blogged about this back in May 2007, when I wrote Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand Likes Islay. Today this is confirmed again in a report/ interview by the Daily Record:

Alex, who was born in Gloucestershire but now considers himself a Scot after moving north as a boy, has become a connoisseur of our finest drams.

‘My favourite is Lagavulin. I really like isles whisky,’ Alex explained. ‘I went to the Laphroaig distillery on Islay a couple of years ago. It was a really beautiful island.’

He's also being quite sensible, cutting back on how much he drinks during the tour to ensure his voice remains on top form for the fans. But then again that's what it is all about anyway, isn't it? Enjoying it responsibly.

PS: Yes, Franz Ferdinand was playing while I was writing this entry. I'm considering to buy Tonight: Franz Ferdinand when it comes out at the end of the month.
