Heads up: Islay Book Festival 2009

Islay's festivals are about much more than just whisky and music. This year will see the seventh Islay walking festival with the WalkIslay walking week in April. Later in the year we will see another festival which has been growing in stature over the last few years, the Islay Book Festival. This year will see the fourth festival in early September:

I've had the festival listed in the Islay countdowns in the sidebar for quite a while now as ‘details to be confirmed’. Today I learned that the new website has been completed: The Islay Book Festival website. Nice work by James of Islay IT Services I think, simple, easy to navigate, clear, inviting. There is information about previous festivals but more importantly about the upcoming festival:

As previously there are programmes for adults and children. I can't comment on the children programme. Some of the names which caught my eye on the adults programme include George Robertson who will talk about his book Islay and Jura (Images of Scotland) and crime fiction writer Alex Gray.

May be I should mention the date as well: Saturday 05/Sep/2009 and Sunday 06/Sep/2009. Mark your calendars.
