More Islay Walking Links

Last week in Islay Walking News I wrote about Karen Siddall's Islay on Foot and my new Islay Walking Week page. Hopefully that got some of you interested in walking on Islay. If not, may be the two links I found for today will get you interested?

Now I don't know if he will wear a kilt for that walk, but tomorrow (Tue, 17/Mar/2009) there will be an SAC Farm Walk - Lessons from Organic Farming at Octomore Farm, courtesy of James Brown:

Meet at Octomore, Port Charlotte, Isle of Islay, Argyll, PA48 7UD (Courtesy of Mr James Brown)

Visit a well established non-organic farm and discuss how this farm could benefit from adopting certain organic farming methods. This event is free and open to all.

The event is organised by the SAC (Scottish Agricultural College), it's therefore directed at anyone interested in (organic) farming, not so much at the walker in general. Still, because it's a walk I thought it's worth mentioning.

For some proper walking I have to return to Walkislay: The Islay walking week has found its way on to the VisitScotland website as Islay Walk Week. The picture illustrating it is from last year's WalkIslay, taken during the walk from Bruichladdich to Kilchoman and back. I can't remember the exact location, but it's somewhere near Conisby. That's the Paps of Jura on the right in the distance.
