Islay Blogging Roundup #76

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Three weeks since the last Islay blogging roundup, let's see if I can still do it. It's rather late after an evening walk/stroll to see some Bluebells on the way to Beenham Church, so I'll have to keep it rather short this week. What have the blogs been writing about Islay, Jura and Colonsay recently?

The Bluebells are out on Islay as well, as Jeremy Hastings reports in his Islay Nature Report 26April - Marigold on Ron's blog. Earlier in the day Ron posted a video of Dolphins off Portnahaven. Mary-Jane writes her BTCV Natural Talent Islay summary from her time on Islay.

The Islay Birds blog is back to full strength after a slowdown due to WalkIslay. Then again WalkIslay was good for bird- and wildlife spotting as well. This week there was a male Blackcap on picture and many more birds including Lesser Yellowlegs, Long billed Dowitcher, Green winged Teal and a Spotted Redshank.

John Islay Birder Armitage is Back in harness!! after an involuntary break. Jeremy Hastings on Islay Birding News reports of french agents, no, that's not a new bird species.

A few new Islay related blogs: Only a few entries so far, but there is an Islay Energy Trust blog. Isobel has set up Islayautism’s Blog, a resource to help any parents on Islay and surrounding islands who have a child with Autism.

On the Islay ICT blog Andy and Ian discuss an Informal curriculum and there's a lot of twittering going on about the upcoming Education2020 Unconference in June. The word is starting to spread, For Argyll also writes about Islay’s Education Unconference.

Unfortunately I missed him during my time on Islay last week (so much to do, so little time), but Rob writes about the The Kindness of Strangers and An Island Friend to the World. Darroch on the Black Bottle Campervan Blog! (which is currently less campervan as its engine blew up) writes an Islay introduction.

The Bruichladdich Blog has been very active recently. There are mentions of the Beach Rugby, Heaven or Hell and Origami Laddie. Just to mention a few.

On Islay Sea Shipping Elliot keeps monitoring the ship movements around Islay, including the return of the M.V Isle Of Arran (I wish I had know he was there, I was on the Hebridean Isles leaving in the first picture!). There's also a picture of the M.V Viscount in Port Ellen.

In other news Ron posted his Islay News Roundup March and First Half of April 2009 and celebrated his Islay Weblog post nr 1000. The Colonsay Brewery blog more on the German visitors and unfortunately has to let down a new outlet in Glasgow.

OK, Islay pictures. On Mark Unsworth's Islay Photography Gallery we find a cloudy sunset at Saligo Bay and a redundant doorway on The Oa. He also has a picture of the famous C-Road sign. Ewan Graham's Islay Photos include reflections on Lily Loch and Waterfall at Port Na Seillich B&W.

On Ron's Picture Blog we find Crois Mhor Cottage Loch Gruinart and Beinn na Caillich. Mirko Herzner has a great picture of the Machir Bay Shipwreck. There's a picture of Mirko himself above Machir Bay and a couple walking their dog.

That's all I have time for this evening, time to say good night and get to bed. But not before the usual reference to the Scottish Roundup (which seems to be running late, last week's entry was Smears, Shipyards, Sorry, and Saltires with the In Between Talking About the Football NoPoScoBloRo.
