Friday Islay Picture #141 - Isle of Arran leaving Port Ellen

Friday Islay Picture in stencil

Earlier this evening I came across a nice picture of the MV Lochiel in Port Ellen (view in large) on Islay in 1964. That was a quite different way to travel back then to what we have now. I wouldn't say it was better, but it was certainly different. No simple roll-on, roll-off as we have today. Anyway, I decided to stay with the theme this evening and picked a picture of the Isle of Arran leaving Port Ellen for this week's Friday Islay picture:

That's of course the lighthouse at Carraig Fhada on the left, the Isle of Arran having just left the pier. I took this picture on the walk back from a nice afternoon at the Singing Sands and beyond in June 2009. By chance arrived near the lighthouse at just the right time.

As usual I will post a larger version (larger as in more than twice as big) on the Islay Pictures photoblog on Saturday morning. Until then I wish you a great weekend and will enjoy my Laphroaig Quarter Cask now. Good night!
