From Islay across Scotland, by Kayak

Just a fairly short update this evening, I was busy playing with a new toy earlier. I think I will be very happy with it which in turn should in the future make many of you happy, in particular the visitors of the Islay Pictures photoblog. But that's more for another time, today I need to write about James and Eleanor again, who will leave Islay tomorrow for their big adventure:

Some of you might remember the Crossing Scotland in an Inflatable Kayak entry from a month ago, where I wrote about James' and Eleanor's plan to cross Scotland by inflatable kayak while raising money for charity. Over the last few weeks they've documented their training and planning for the crossing on their Eleanor and James Crossing Scotland Coast to Coast blog. On Sunday in 13. The countdown begins ... they wrote:

We leave Islay on the morning of Thursday 9th September, drive to Oban and a quick stop for fortifying fish and chips, [..], and then straight on to Loch Linnhe. Having looked at the tides, James has decided to paddle the Loch Linnhe to Corpach section of the journey on Thursday afternoon/evening.

That's tomorrow. Or depending on when you read this even today. Hence the urgency for this update. Of course you can still sponsor them, as of Sunday their total was £1,613 which they hope to push to at least £2,000 by the end of the trip.

I guess all that remains for now is to wish James and Eleanor all the best and a great trip! Good luck and we hope to hear from you soon with good news and progress reports. I'm sure you'll make it all the way across Scotland!
