Cairn Cottage, Port Ellen, Islay

Picture of a house seen from the water

Earlier this month Paul contacted me with a link to the website for their holiday cottage near Port Ellen. As it is quite large (it sleeps up to 10 people) it is fairly unlikely that I'll be staying in it in the forseeable future (as I usually travel alone or occasionally with my sister). But as I looks very nice and I'm occasionally asked for larger places on Islay I thought it is well worth a mention here.

It certainly is in a very nice location:

As you can hopefully see from the picture (hint, the arrow points towards the cottage) it is overlooking Kilnaughton Bay and Port Ellen, Carraig Fhada is in plain view from the front room. According to the description the beach in Kilnaughton Bay is five minutes away, which sounds about right to me.

You can find more information on the Cairn Cottage, Isle of Islay, website and here's the Google Streetview from just in front of it. If you stay in it during your Islay visit I hope you'll enjoy it.
