Friday Islay Picture #200 - Lighthouse from Currie Sands

So there we are, #200. 200 Friday Islay pictures since the first Friday Islay picture in March 2007. Which brought the question which picture to pick for this milestone. I decided to go for something topical, a picture which actually shows three islands in one picture. A beach on Islay, Orsay with the Rinns of Islay lighthouse and Eilean Mhic Coinnich:

So why this picture and why is it topical? Some of you might remember the HitchHop to Visit Islay (and more) from a few weeks ago. To start with they have since been to Islay (see Day 3 – Thomas our Tartan, Travelling companion Trolley bag and Day 4 – Relying on the Good Will of Others). But more importantly they have since completed their challenge yesterday, and they did it in style: Hitch hike pair visit more than 100 Scottish islands (the headline is slightly incorrect, it was 100 exactly).
Apart from Islay itself they visited the two islands in the picture above as well as Finlaggan. A good enough reason for me to pick this picture. As usual I'll post a larger version on the Islay Pictures photoblog on Saturday morning.
All that remains is to point out the HitchHop fundraising page for the RNLI, wish you a nice weekend and move on to the next 100 Friday Islay pictures…
