Islay Blogging Roundup #176

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

For a change I decided to believe the weather forecast and stayed at home this afternoon. Turned out to be a wise decision as we just had a thunderstorm with some torrential rain in Aldermaston Wharf. Apart from that I've finished my latest Islay video this morning, more about that probably tomorrow. For now it's back to Islay and Jura in the blogs over the last week or so:

Usually I leave the pictures to the end, but as he missed last week's roundup only by minutes I thought I start with James Deane today: Master Blaster… Jammin! was the entry he posted on Sunday evening. Mark Unsworth on his Islay Photography Gallery has a Breaking Wave at Saligo while on his Islaystudios's Blog he writes about Pleasure and the Pain. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I think I'll go for the View into the fog, Isle of Islay and the Sunny Loch Finlaggan, Isle of Islay.

Some of the Islay holiday entries have quite a few pictures as well, so I'll continue with them: I've mentioned Mark Rainsley last week, his latest entries are Inside Islay and Grey drizzly Islay (where the pictures aren't grey and drizzly at all, just the weather when he was posting them). Wild on Arran (on a clear day you can see Islay and Jura from the highest hills on Arran) visited both Islay and Jura recently, Wild Wild West: Islay, Jura and Kintyre and Paps of Jura: Two out of Three Aint Bad! are the two entries about the visit.

Lynn Stewart has a LIFESURFING – UPDATE and at least earlier this week was looking for a bit of work on Islay. I expect the results from this year's Islay Half Marathon (which took place yesterday) will published soon, for you can look at 25 years of winners! While on holiday Ron brings a Video of the Mo Chuilean Beag Islay.

I believe Rachel's tipi is now on its way to Islay, until it arrives we can read about a few other things on wildandmagicislay's posterous: Some clothes in LOVELY eco friendly T SHIRTS from Wild and Magic Islay and Sexy Wild and Magic Islay T's for Ladies. Those not interested in clothes can join Rachel to the place Where Fairies Live.

On the whisky side WHISKY REVIEWS tastes the Laphroaig Triple Wood while the ardblog asks for a transcription of the Ardbeg Alligator Promovideo. A long read by THE CASKS is their Kilchoman Spring 2011 Release – Review.

This week I'll close with the birdwatching and the wildlife: The Islay Birds blog starts the month with the rainfall update and sightings from the INHT ramble. It continues with observations about Swallows and later in the week Golden Eagles, Buzzards and Greylags. John Islay Birder Armitage has an Announcement !!!!, followed by A reasonable day spoiled! 6.8.2011. and First "sign in " with Grey lag Geese. The Islay Natural History Trust blog has Toads and Water Buffaloes from George, Springtails - Anurida maritima and some of the entries for the Design a Butterfly Competition.

That's all for this week, I hope I haven't missed anything (well, apart from the splogs rehashing the same old entries I've been seeing for years now…). Of course here's the link to the Scottish Roundup, this week with Say what you mean, mean what you say. Good night!
