Islay Blogging Roundup #208

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Running a bit late for the early night I had hoped for today (have to go into the office tomorrow). Got sidetracked by watching the last stages of the bridge demolitions here in Aldermaston Wharf (which also caused a rather noisy night before with jackhammers going most of the night and other noise). Don't think you'll get that on Islay. Anyway, on to the mentions of Islay in the blogs this week:

Easter seems to have been at least partially a bit damp, as we can read in Rainy Good Friday and Drizzly Easter Sunday! on ...From the Manse. Ron wishes a Happy Easter Everyone.

Gordon and Mel are on their way home now (or have even arrived, I'm not entirely sure), they had a great time on Islay again. After A quiet day….. it turned to Snow Joke ! This was follow by Not 50…..18 with 32 years Experience…… followed by Another Day in Paradise…..

Of course there were a few whisky or at least whisky related entries again: The Danish Whisky Blog writes the Beginner's Guide to Whisk(e)y part 2 : Peated Whiskies, which of course includes quite a bit of Islay. Super Single Malts tastes the Caol Ila 12 Year Old while peat.se tries the Kilchoman Machir Bay. On Eldondo's blog you might want to take a look at Winter grilling, part 2 - poultry and fish (even though you need to scroll down a bit to find the Islay link). Also the Bruichladdich Gin is Big In Japan.

Steve is currently on a whisky tour, which includes a visit to Islay. Try Whisky Tour Day 1, Whisky Tour Day 2 and Whisky Tour Day 3 to read what he's experienced so far. On Invisible Company/Quiet Thoughts I also found two Islay visit entries: islay trip day 1 and islay trip day 2.

As usual there was birdwatching and wildlife: The Islay Birds blog went on a big bird count today and had news of 70 Fulmars at Laggan Point. There are also news about the bird fairs Islay will be presented at. On the Islay Natural History Trust blog we find a variety of topics again, ranging from an Adder to Kingcups and the Rookery. Also Becky reports from her Walk to An Cladach and there's a Hedgehog found by Alistair Hutchison

The pictures, let me start with what's easily the picture of the week, Mark Unsworth's Saligo Bay. Could have mentioned it under the birdwatching but decided to put it here instead, House Sparrows in action by James Deane. Ron has a view of Kintra Beach. Signs of life on the Hazel Tree also includes another Islay picture. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I think I'll go for the Grazing Horse at Saligo, the Small Cruise Ship Passing McArthur's Head and of course the Sunset at Saligo Bay in June 2010, Isle of Islay.

That's all I've got for this week. As usual the reference to the Scottish Roundup, this week with Happy Easter and some fine egg-amples of Scottish blog posts. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
