Islay Blogging Roundup #223

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

It seems autumn weather is approaching rapidly now, after a few quite chilly nights earlier in the week it's been rather wet in Aldermaston Wharf today. So I've been baking again today, more Honey and Almonds Shortbread and some Three Flour Almonds & Linseed Bread. But that's not really what you're here for. You're here for the bumper edition Islay blogging roundup. Let's go, Islay in the blogs the last two weeks:

As expected I found a few entries about the Islay Book Festival, Linda Strachan wrote There and back again – Islay Book Festival while Chae Strathie writes his summary on Facebook. On Shared Argyll Learning Eleanor writes about the Islay Book Festival. The Our Learning Blog of Port Ellen Primary School also has a few related entries, P6/7 Book Festival Author Joan Lennon, Keith Brumpton by Annie and Kieth Brumpton by Eleanor again.

The Islay Energy Trust blog announces the West Islay Tidal Public Information Days, which will be 25/26 September. Also on 25/Sep will be the next Islay & Jura Timebank stroll in Bridgend Woods. The Islay History Blog writes about RAF Kilchiaran - a Cold War relic. Ron picks on a video of Islay Moods by Fritz Bohm and mentions the Rare Bowmore Islay Single Malt from 1957 up for Auction. Posie writes about A rare and beautiful butterfly… (although the butterfly is not what you might think at first glance, you need to read the text).

Geoff Kleinman writes about Inside Caol Ila and also 10 Things I Learned in Islay, Scotland. Another list, the BroBible states 6 Reasons to Take a Bro Trip to Islay. Linh writes about her Scotland Trip: Water to Whisky Tour at Laphroaig while Brad Jarvis (The Whisky Professor) shows pictures from Day 2 Islay and Day 2 Islay continued. A Swedish group visited Islay 9-13 sep.

Keith claims The not so secret Islay – Bruichladdich, although that's still open to debate. The Malt Review definitely tastes one though, the Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2006 – Dunlossit Farm, they also pick up on Whisky Recipes! Bowmore team up with River Cottage From Germany Eye for Spirits has the Ardbeg Galileo im Test. The Coopered Tot writes Kilchoman 2006 Turns 5 And Gives Me "Vertigo". The Gourmet by Association spent A couple of days in Scotland, mainly Islay, and enjoyed the food.

Gordon Homer asks and answers, Why,why, why…… The Isle of Islay ? On Beith Online we find an Islay Travelogue – the Scottish Isle of Islay by Robby, who earlier wrote 10 Reasons to Visit Islay. On his Jura blog Ron writes about the Knockrome and Ardfernal Crofting Townships.

Some birdwatching and wildlife: On wildreviews we learn it's Tough to be a Chough! A swedish birder posted 120704 Skottland-Scotland , day 11 Wednesday Jura, 120705 Skottland-Scotland , day 12 Thursday Mull of Oa and 120705 Skottland-Scotland , dag 12 Torsdag Mull of Oa. On the Islay Birds blog we find a picture of Black Tailed Godwits, 9 Barnacle Geese arriving, some dreadful weather leaving time for catchup and finally some nice weather with various sightings. The Islay Natural History Trust Blog brings us a Nature Ramble at Killinallan - Friday 21st September 2012, some great Otter photos from Mathew, some Marsh Fritillary Webs and Bees and a Thank you to Lorna.

Not many pictures this week, Mark Unsworth still posted his Image of the week but has been and still is busy elsewhere. Ron has the Glen Road and A Winter View on the Sound of Islay. On the INHT blog some great pictures of Saligo by George Robertson. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I think I'll go for the Watchful Goats on The Oa, the Dramatic Clouds over the Dunes at Saligo Bay and of course the Sunset over Loch Indaal seen from Bowmore, Isle of Islay.

That's it for today, of course there's still the Scottish Roundup for the bigger picture, last week with Batgirl was a Librarian and this week with Subjective truth, Singing politicians and Scantily-clad bodies. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
