Friday Islay Picture #266 - Moonlit Loch Indaal

Friday Islay Picture in stencil

Of course the tradition of the Friday Islay picture continues in 2013 same as all the previous years, somehow I got quite attached to it despite having launched (and relaunched) the Islay Pictures photoblog. At least for me it's a mark of the end of the working week and the start of the weekend. This week's picture is a slightly dark yet also quite bright one:

Picture of the Moon breaking through clouds to illumnate a sea loch, a village on the other side

This is from an evening of what I had thought was largely a wasted day for photography with a lot of rain and clouds. On my way back to the cottage at Kilchoman suddenly the clouds started to break up with the full Moon on occasion providing some nice light. The picture of the moonlit Machir Bay was shot later that evening, but for now back to Loch Indaal.

I stopped at Blackrock to see if I could capture some of this. This picture is from the top of the pebble beach, looking over to Bowmore. With the longer exposure I still needed despite the bright Moon the waves on Loch Indaal turned fairly smooth, but then it creates a nice effect with the reflections of the light.

I hope you like the picture, I'll post a larger version of it on the photoblog on Saturday morning. For now, good night and have a great weekend!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
