Islay Blogging Roundup #244

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

So there we are, a busy weekend over. Not much Islay related for me, but I managed to sort out a number of other things. Sometimes these things have to be done. Anyway, back to the task at hand, the Islay, Jura and Colonsay mentions in the blogs this week. Some good reads and views again I think:

Gordon returned from his Winter 2013 Visit to Islay just after I finished last week's roundup, so I'm catching up this week. Grace says I love Scotland after a visit to Islay. The Brightwater Holidays Blog writes about Islay - Wild Geese and the Water of Life.

Quite a few Islay whisky postings again this week, starting with whisky for everyone and Have just tried – Bunnahabhain 40 Years Old. Scotch Cinema reports an Islay sighting in Lagavulin in "This is 40" while Bozkurt Karasu tastes the Laphroaig 10yo Cask Strength…. Then we have the SmokyBeast Review: Port Charlotte Ten Year - A Whisky Drama in 5 Acts. Water of Life writes about Bowmore, the oldest distillery of Islay Island while TAKE THAT LIVER! has #59 hit – CAOL ILA 12yrs. From the neighbours Onversneden tastes the Isle Of Jura 1995, Diurach’s Exclusive and the Isle of Jura 1988, The Whiskyman.

A slightly different whisky related post series with an Islay link can be found on the SWB | Somerset Whisky Blog: Article: Malt Whisky and Place – Part One, Article: Malt Whisky and Place – Part Two, Article: Malt Whisky and Place – Part Three and Article: Malt Whisky and Place – Part Four include several Islay speakers and Islay references.

Bruichladdich had their first Twitter Tasting this week, written about by Pete in Whisky Wednesday: Bruichladdich Twitter Tasting and Whisky Discovery in Bruichladdich Tweet Tasting. Ron shares a text first posted by Rachel on Twitter in Islay Declares War on Britain while Rachel herself titles Islay Drams Avert War……. I believe it all started with The Whisky Wire Bruichladdich Tweet Tasting.

The Islay Energy Trust reports a Community Needs Analysis to be launched.

The birdwatching and wildlife is covered by the Islay Birds blog as usual, a picture of a Canada Goose, the return of the weather with some bird sightings and some winterly bird sightings were among the entries this week. The INHT blog has pictures and descriptions In search of ancient Islay. John Armitage also writes about Spring........ermm! Well, sort of !.

For the pictures Mark Unsworth is now back with some comparisons to Islay and Final Thoughts On Brittany. On the INHT blog Malcolm posts pictures of some Signs of spring. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Mull and Colonsay from Sanaigmore, Waves and Rocks in Saligo Bay and Walkers on Cnoc Donn, Tallant, Isle of Islay.

That's all folks, more next week. For the bigger picture go to the Scottish Roundup, this week with A little bit of what you fancy. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
