Islay Blogging Roundup #245

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

That's the weekend over, didn't get as much rest as I had hoped as I was asked to do some more work for the day job today. Anyway, still managed to bake some more fruit bread yesterday and made the decision to order a rather expensive but very good chair today (my old one broke recently and I'm currently sitting on a wooden chair, not good for my back). Time for this week's Islay mentions in the blogs:

To start with a ‘new’ Islay photo blog: I was wondering when he would come to the same conclusion when I wrote Islay Pictures Photoblog Woes and relaunched the Islay Pictures photoblog shortly after. Now Ron has come to the same conclusion as he writes in Islay Photo Blog Update. His new blog can be found under www.islayphotoblog.co.uk, some of the pictures so far include Dramatic Skies over Leorin, Distant Shower over Bowmore and Cattle on the beach at Loch Indaal. Earlier in the week Ron also had an update on the Ferry Timetables and Ferry Poll.

Over to some Islay whisky related postings: Starting with a SmokyBeast Review: Port Charlotte Ten Year - A Whisky Drama in 5 Acts and followed by Denis from Canada writing about the Bruichladdich Waves. Bruichladdich reports of a A Very Dry Month On Islay while Malt Fascination tastes the Bruichladdich Black Art 1, 1989-2009, 19yo, 51.1% as well as the Bruichladdich Black Art 3, 1989-2012, 48.7%. Living Room Whisky catches up with Bruichladdich Tweet Tasting and a Finnish blog writes about the Islay Storm – myräkkää rajuissa vesissä and the Bunnahabhain 18YO – tumman laivankannen kertomaa. Bozzy takes another look in Laphroaig Triple Wood (revisited)… France says Smells so good.

Islay High's Gaelic teacher went on A Mid-Winter Adventure Part 1: Dunadd. On Port Ellen Primary's Our Learning Blog we can read about the Swimming Gala, World Maths Day and the World Book Day At Port Ellen.

The birdwatching and wildlife, as usual starting with the Islay Birds blog: Among others we find bird count numbers from Loch Indaal, sightings from George and a count by Mary and kind of conflicting sightings by James or Michal (not sure). The INHT blog visits Olistadh and Grimsay - in the snow! and has some Brent Geese. Also an interesting read about Witches Broom. John Armitage sees Signs of winter's end. 16.3.2013.

On to the regular pictures: Mark Unsworth's Image Of The Week is of a chilly Loch Indaal. James Collett brings us Coastlines and Port an Lobhaidh. A quite different picture by Thomas Eichmann in bowmore.jpg. From the Muasdale Holiday Park a view of Islay and Jura on a Cold and Crisp Bright Morning and a Glorious Day. On the INHT blog we find Machir Bay this afternoon, Loch Indaal and Barnacle Geese at sunset - Loch Indaal. Keith Savage says Picture This: Off the Whisky Coast. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Sheep on Traigh Bhan, Ardtalla, Shoreline near Ardtalla and Cliffs and Waves on the West Coast, Isle of Islay.

With that I'll finish for today, as usual head over to the Scottish Roundup for the bigger picture, this week with Tweets, hoots and squeaks. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
