Friday Islay Picture #298 - Port Ellen Maltings & Distillery
Finally weekend after a long and tiring week. Having decided I've earned it spoiling myself with a nice steak. To be followed by a few nice Islay drams from Laphroaig and Bruichladdich later. But first this week's Friday Islay picture, a view from the ferry from Kennacraig arriving in Port Ellen on a June evening:
These are of course the Port Ellen Maltings towering over what's left of Port Ellen distillery. To my knowledge essentially all of the equipment is long gone, the only thing remaining are the warehouses and a few (now rather expensive) casks of Port Ellen whisky. The warehouses are now used by Lagavulin and Kilchoman distillery.
With that I'm going to leave you tonight. Good night and have a great weekend!
