Islay Blogging Roundup #265

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Last weekend of September, going into October on Tuesday. Spent some time this weekend setting up a new transport case for my DJI Phantom quadcopter, as I'm planning to take it up to Islay again in October. Admittedly it's unlikely I'll get a calm day, but at least I'll be prepared if I do. But now it's over to the Islay mentions in the blogs this week:

Let me start with few Islay whisky related posts: Whisky investments speculates Bruichladdich Black Art 04.1: Preisexplosion? while the Whisky Wench tastes the Ardbeg 10 year old. WhiskyFun goes Bang bang bang, three Lagavulin. Heavy Whisky tastes the Ardbeg Ardbog while NY Loves Whisky has a Review: Laphroaig Cairdeas 2012. From Spain Todo Whisky writes Gartbreck, ¿nueva destilería en Islay?, from Austria the Whisky Chapter has Gartbreck statt Ardbeg and from Germany Malts and Metal wonders Gartbreck Oder Wieviel Destillerien Verträgt Islay. Back to tasting, the Malt Impostor has The Ardbeg Blasda (50 ml Whisky Heaven mini)

Moving on to the visits, I mentioned Becky and Alan's arrival on Islay last week, this week we have TRAVEL: SCOTLAND DAY 6 - TASTE THAT PEAT! and TRAVEL: SCOTLAND DAY 7 - THAT'S WHAT I CALL SCOTTISH WEATHER!. Susi and Joerg from Germany (Berlin, I believe) went on a long holiday in Scotland, the Islay part is decribed in Tag 8: von Glasgow nach Islay und Mull of Oa, Tag 9: nach Solam und Ardbeg, Tag 10: Ballygrant, Traigh Bhan, Caol Ila, Tag 11: Machir Bay und Kilchoman, Tag 12: Besteigung des Beinn Bheigier (491m), Tag 13: Lagavulin, Laphroig, Bowmore, Tag 14: Loch Skerrols und Bridgend Woods and most recently Tag 15: von Bunnahabhain nach Rhuvaal. After a great time for dog and human Whippety Wanderings says Goodbye To Islay, Hello To The Cottage By The Loch. Dutch visitors went camping on Islay and share Eiland 2 (Islay).

Paul lives on Raasay Life at the end of the road, but recently did a stint on the Islay ferry MV Finlaggan, a few pictures and notes can be found in Open for business :-) and It’s only a cold :-). Waterlog Reswum went to Jura for some wild swimming, Loch Tarbert, Jura – the boat house and beyond and West Jura – raised beaches and beyond describe their experiences.

Posie introduces us to Bramble 'Houdini', the Party Pup and the Our Learning Blog of Port Ellen Primary tells us about Primary 7 cycling proficiency and Sound Sience. Ron shares A Personal Note on the Tuscania Tragedy.

On to the birdwatching and wildlife: On the Islay Birds blog we find news of a Yellow Browed Warbler, Ian and Bob's bird count Bowmore to Gartbreck and Bob, Peter and Pia's sightings from a walk to Gortantaoid. Amy shares a picture of an Araneus quadratus (that's a spider) and headed to Campbeltown for a children's workshop. On the INHT blog we find the 2013 Design a Butterfly winner and learn that the mackerel are in. John Armitage reports from A splendid day of contrasts! 23.9.2013.

To finish of course the pictures as usual. Amy shares views of Loch Gruinart and cycled to Saligo Bay. Ron shares the Caol Ila still house and Bunnahabhain distillery. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Laphroaig distillery from the Islay ferry, The Singing Sands and Carraig Fhada lighthouse and Islay and Jura ferries in the Sound of Islay.

With that I'll close for this week, for the bigger picture as usual head over to the Scottish Roundup, most recently with We all have personal battles we have to fight and win so let’s find jewels in the dust as we search for tomorrow’s rainbows. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
