Islay Blogging Roundup #271

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Running rather late having been sidetracked by all kinds of things today. Think I better hurry to get this week's Islay blogging roundup written now. Here we go, the Islay (and Colonsay) mentions in the blogs this week:

Let me start with a few Islay whisky mentions: Sukasa Style has the Bowmore 12-Year Old Enigma #ScotchSunday Review. The Whisky Moose tastes the Bowmore 12 as well as the Big Peat. The Whisky Rover in the meantime brings us Taste: Asda Extra Special Islay Malt. WhiskyNotes from Belgium tastes the Laphroaig 1997 (SV cask #3369).

The visits: Lichen Hunting has been off to Arran and Islay, had a spooky night at Finlaggan, then to Port Charlotte during their three days on Islay and then moved on to Colonsay – mysterious secret gardens and cake from a box!. Keith Savage's Best of Scotland: Five Destinations for Barflies includes Islay's Port Charlotte Hotel.

Douglas Thompson's Poem #48/52 is linked to Islay. Over on Colonsay they have been Busy, Busy, Busy… Ron shares a Relaxing Laphroaig Promotional Video. Whisky Experts from Germany write about a Jobangebot auf Islay.

From the Dower House we get a nice Photo Update-Autumn and the Roof and Justin Tyers keeps his promise of blogging more with The best view until last Tuesday… The Islay and Jura Timebank shares an update about younger people helping out and some general news.

Philippa Mitchell provides a quick update from her Islay Visit and promises more next week. She mentions visiting Port Ellen Primary, who in their Our Learning Blog write about P2/3's Trip To The Dump!, a Fiddle Music Exam, the Post Cards From Doctor Knowles and the World of Work Day.

The birdwatching and the wildlife: On the Islay Birds blog we find Peter's sightings having returned from Puerto Rico, the first international Goose count numbers and a picture of the Twite flock on the Oa. On the INHT blog Malcolm reports of the December Moth in November, again! On the RSPB blog we find some November wildlife while Amy tells us It's that time of year again…

Picture time to finish, James Collett has found some nice shots of The Singing Sands, Islay. Ron shares an Autumn View from the Bunnahabhain Road while Amy has an interesting shot of snow on the Paps of Jura with a rainbow. Mark share some nice views in After the snow and the gales, here comes the sun. American Monument, Upper Killeyan, The Oa 22/11/2013. From Muasdale in Kintyre two nice shots of Snow on Jura & Islay. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Finlaggan, Isle of Islay, and the Paps of Jura, Port Charlotte and Beinn Tart a’Mhill and Barnacle Geese on ground and in air at Gruinart, Isle of Islay.

And that's it for this week. Good night!

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
