Islay Blogging Roundup #292

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

Well then, that's the bank holiday weekend over. Had some good hours outside over the weekend, at Hosehill Lakes Nature Reserve on Saturday and close to home today where I managed to get a picture of a Great Spotted Woodpecker. But now over to the Islay mentions in the blogs, after the bumper edition last week a bit shorter this week:

Jürgen from Germany writes “Need For Peat” Reloaded – eine torfige Reise nach Islay about his upcoming Islay visit. Similarly a geologist from Cambridge writes up a Travel Concept #1 – The Islands of Western Scotland including a visit to Islay. From a recent visit David Sharp recounts Easter on Islay and Jura. Brian finishes the reports from his visit with Kildalton and Old Treasures.

Moving on to the whisky, a German blog writes about their first whisky tasting in Wir probieren: Ardbeg Single Malt ten years. SamuelWhisky tastes the Laphroaig ’Vickys' Choice’ single cask no. 5171, 59,8% ABV. Another blog claims IO5M 11: The Top 5 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. The Malt Impostor moves on to The Laphroaig Triple Wood (750 ml new old classic bottle & tube).

Ron writes up some Travel and Accommodation Tips Islay Festival Week while Becky writes about her guided Walk to Traigh Bhan. On Port Ellen Primary's Our Learning Blog we can learn about the Traveling Art Gallary, the Fair Trade Stall/Fair Trade Tuck and visit Our Gaelic Cafe.

For the birdwatching and wildlife Gordon Yates writes about Islay Magic (and promises us lots of Otters). On the Islay Birds blog we find Bob on his bird walk with Martin, the April rainfall stats mixed with Phil's sightings and Bjoern from Norway's sightings. The INHT blog shows Flora and Fauna near Rubh' a' Mhail. On the RSPB blog a sad sight with a Moth Massacre! followed by better news in More moth stuff…. Also kind of fitting to today's bank holiday, Nature doesn't take a day off!

And as usual to close the pictures, where Mark Unsworth writes about Photographing Bluebells with many pictures while the WhiskyExperts from Germany say Whisky im Bild: Islay könnte Regen brauchen…. James Collett shares Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Flowers and the Setting Sun at Lossit Bay, Islay.. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Carraig Fhada lighthouse along the rocky shore, Peat smoke at Laphroaig distillery pagoda and Morning at the Machir Bay dunes path, Isle of Islay.

And that is all for this week.

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
