Islay Blogging Roundup #319

Islay Blogging Roundup in stencil

It's a quite foggy afternoon/evening in Aldermaston Wharf today, so with the help of a cup of tea and some Bremer Klaben it's time for the first Islay blogging roundup in 2015. Considering it's only the 4th today and there are still some entries looking back at 2014 coming in expect to see some references to 2014 as well.

Let's start with an Islay visit, Elizabeth had A satisfying break, with family, which included a stay on Islay. Glendon writes about Bishops Visit - Islay - the Land of the Peated Whisky. Looking back at Vicky's year 2014: A Vagabond Year in Review a memorable night in Port Ellen (for more about that night check Blues on Viking Ship visiting Islay). From Islay Ron wishes a Happy New Year and goes on An Islay Farmland Walk to Balole Farmhouse.

A few Islay whisky mentions, starting with WhiskyNotes reviewing the Port Charlotte Islay Barley. A Finnish whisky blog has the Lagavulin 12 yo 1995/2008 Friends of the Classic Malts 48% and thebradshawreport compares the Port Ellen 28yo vs OMC Port Ellen 27 yo. Whisky for Everyone writes about a Distillery visit - Laphroaig.

Looking back over quite a few years Marc writes about Getting to Jura.

On to the birdwatching and wildlife: On the Islay Birds blog we can read about Corvids vs a Buzzard, birds on a walk up Beinn Bheigier and combined with Happy New Year wishes the rainfall data for 2014. On the INHT blog we can read about A ladybird and a moth! John Armitage writes about how the New Year arrives with a blast! 1.1.2015 and his sightings on the 3rd January, 2015.

To close of course the pictures, no change to that in 2015: Sheila picked an Islay ‘blip’ for her Another year in pictures post. James Collett got up early to photograph Kilnaughton Bay. Ron shares a sunset over Port Charlotte. From my own Islay Pictures photoblog I've picked Carraig Fhada lighthouse from Kilnaughton beach, Machir Bay from the air and the Last seconds of a Saligo Bay sunset, Isle of Islay.

That's it for this week, I hope you found a few interesting links to follow. More next week.

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
