Walk Islay 2015 programme is out

Islay Events written in stencil

Earlier this evening I posted a picture Leaving for a walk in 2003 on the Islay Pictures photoblog. This post was inspired by a much more recent but closely related event. This evening the programme for the 2015 Islay walking week 12-17/Apr/2015 was published:

For the details head over to the Walk Islay page on Welcome to Islay and Jura site. If you're on Facebook also check out the WalkIslay Facebook page. Lots of information out there.

I'm not going to write too much about the walks, you can read about them on the Walk Islay page. I'm still impressed though that while there are of course a few well walked routes they have managed to come up with a few new walks even after over a decade of the week.

While I've started to slow down a little over the last few years and skip the odd walk this year could get a busy one, certainly if the weather is decent. The Bridgend Circuit looks interesting, while I've walked in the area before I think there will be a few new parts and views. Going out to Bholsa and Rhuvaal is always interesting, even though I've been there several times, the landscape is still amazing. As I haven't been to Colonsay for a few years now I'll go over this year if the weather looks decent. Going out to Loch Uigadail also sounds good, I'll almost certainly join Tam on that walk. The week will close with one of the highlights for me (even though it won't be on Islay), walking out to the north coast of Jura and hopefully see the Corryvreckan.

Those are my first impressions, time to get the holiday signed off and start preparing…

Sharing and discussing. Opening up the discussion. Have your say:
