Lossit Walk and Otters on Islay

Picture of an otter

It's a bit later than I had hoped, but writing the Lossit Walk page for the Islay Walking Week 2007 travelogue took longer than expected. Just a quick entry today then, a few notes on the travelogue and a quick mention of otters on Islay. As mentioned I've completed the first walk page for the travelogue.

The page turned out much longer than I had expected, but then we saw so much during the first walk I wanted to mention. There were still quite a few things and pictures I had to omit from the page, otherwise it would have turned out far too long. I hope I've found the right balance.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing an otter, the first otter I've seen on Islay. It was a bit too far away and my lens not strong enough for brilliant pictures, yet I'm quite happy with the results. Others had better views of otters on Islay or Jura: Grahame was a bit luckier recently when he saw an otter near the Jura ferry. Another picture of an Islay otter at the Islay Wildlife Trust website.

And with that I'm off to bed. More next week.
