The Cask Of The Beast

Hm, where do I start with this one? OK, let me do it this way: To start with there were a few young men living in Stockholm, Sweden. Their interests were whisky, beer and music. Drinking the first two while listening to the third. Or listening to the third while drinking the first two. Something like that. And at some point Islay came into the equation, as well as the reason for this entry.

For these young men formed a club, the Stockholm Malt & Metal Society. They now have 25 members and meet regularly to enjoy whisky, beer and music. Not only metal, even Elton John was played at one of their meetings. Yes, yes, I'm coming to the Islay bit now...

In February 2007 they travelled to Scotland and among others places also visited Islay. Nothing spectacular in that, lots of people (incl a lot of Swedes) do that. But here's the twist, and the reason I thought I give them a blog entry:

They are also proud owners of a Bruichladdich Islay single malt whisky cask. That cask is Cask 666. Yes, the number of the beast, fitting for a whisky and metal society. Or as they write on their website:

Woe to you, oh earth and see, for Bruichladdich sends the cask with wrath, for he knows the time is short. Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the cask, for it is a human number. It's number is SixhundredandSixtySix

Oh, and the cask has a blog as well.
