Islay Distillery Book #3: Ardbeg

Picture of the cover for the Ardbeg book

Three down, five to go? Last year I bought and reviewed The Legend of Laphroaig. My copy of Whisky Dream (about Bruichladdich) should be on its way shortly (see also the Bruichladdich Islay Book Video). This entry is about a new book I've recently discovered about Ardbeg distillery. That leaves Bowmore, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Lagavulin and Kilchoman to go, at least I'm not aware of a book about them. But back to the book about Ardbeg:

The book is called ‘Ardbeg, A Peaty Provenance’, written by Gavin D Smith with photography by Graeme Wallace. It is published by GW Publishing (as I just noticed based in Thatcham, just down the road from where I live), who also publish a Malt Whisky Guide and a Distilleries of Islay & Jura Calendar 2008.

I haven't got the book yet, but there is a very good Ardbeg book samples page. It gives a very good impression of the contents of the book, the style reminds me a wee bit of The Legend of Laphroaig. Certainly got me interested, so I'm planning to order it.

You can order it directly from the publisher, probably the best method. As of writing this the book is listed at Amazon UK but not currently in stock.

PS: Tom of the ardblog has just returned from Islay, I hope this entry will be good news for him (not sure if knows of the book).
